Artist Statement

As an artist,

I am captivated by the beauty and raw power of the Canadian wilderness. My figurative botanical landscape paintings are a reflection of my deep connection to the natural world and my desire to capture its essence on canvas.

Working primarily in acrylics, I use bold colours and dynamic brushstrokes to create vivid, tactile images that convey a sense of movement and vitality. Through the use of figurative elements, I seek to convey the complex relationship between humans and the natural environment, exploring themes of harmony, tension, and coexistence.

At the heart of my work is a focus on botanical elements, including the vibrant plant life that thrives in the Canadian wilderness. By emphasizing these elements, I hope to highlight the intricate beauty and diversity of the natural world, while also calling attention to the urgent need to protect it for future generations.

Through my paintings, I seek to evoke a visceral response in the viewer, inviting them to engage with the landscape in a deeply emotional and personal way. Whether depicting vast, sweeping vistas or intimate, detailed close-ups of plant life, my work aims to capture the raw power and sublime beauty of the Canadian wilderness.

Ultimately, my hope is that my paintings will inspire viewers to see the natural world in a new light, to appreciate its beauty and complexity, and to take action to protect it for generations to come.
